Khalid to look into delay in housing project
The Selangor government will find out the reason for delay in handing over the keys to houses in Taman Alam Perdana by next week.
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he will look into the Taman Alam Perdana problem after several house owners complained they have yet to receive the keys despite a decade-long wait.
“We will find out by next week the reasons for the delay,” he told FMT yesterday.
The Selangor state government through its firm, Menteri Besar Incorporated, had seized the Taman Alam Perdana land in 2011 to revive the project, which had been delayed since 2002 under private developer LBCN Sdn Bhd.
So far, under state-appointed developer Perumahan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) 733 of the 1,116 houses remain unoccupied pending a Certificate of Fitness (CF), according to house buyer Isaac Nathan.
This was in contrast to the 25 blocks of flats nearby, which was also an LBCN project before it was taken over by federal government-owned firm Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB).
Under SPNB, the flat owners were handed their CF and keys on April 28 this year by the Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
Nathan told FMT that Khalid was only interested in obtaining the land at the expense of the residents.
He also questioned why PNSB said it had spent millions on construction work, when the project was already “98% complete” when the state-owned firm took over in 2011.
Khalid said the houses were only built after they stepped in.
He said he had also resolved matters with Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) over the the letter of approval regarding the sanitation system.
According to the Selangor Housing and Land Board, as long as IWK withholds its letter of approval, the CF and keys will not be issued to house owners.
Khalid said the state had done all it could to resolve the issue but the delay could be due house owners’ own problems.
“Before you receive the keys, your financial arrangements with the banks need to be resolved,” said Khalid.
“I think some of the house owners thought that since the matter is handled by the state government, they can get everything for free,” he said.
